FRIDAY ADVENTURE CLUB STRIKES AGAIN
FRONT:Sam, Anna, Kelly, Molly

This weeks adventure took us to the Page Springs Fish Hatchery where they raise fish, mainly Rainbow Trout, to stock rivers and lakes throughout Arizona. I believe the kids thought we took them there so that they could wave there arms over the runs and scare the fish. There really wasn't much in the way of posted information, although we did speak with a hatchery worker who spoke with us a little about how the hatchery works, their water source, and some of the problems they face. We were also able to feed the larger fish in the Hatchery's pond. All in all a fun and educational day.

Verde River Days
This is one of my favorite annual events in the Verde Valley. A day long event in a beautiful setting with something for everyone, and lots of fun things for kids to do. I set out with all four of our kids on Saturday and met up with Grandpa to take it all in. First stop-face painting...
For most of the kids(including Grandpa) canoe rides were the highlight of the day. Grandpa and Uncle Dustin both had to paddle the circuit twice because Mom(me) won't go on the canoes. After you've fallen out of one they kind of lose their appeal.
After the thirty minute wait for our face art we decided that it must be time to eat. All the food is to support non-profit organizations, and the parent council from Sam's school(no I am not on it, Yet)serves pizza. After we filled our bellies, we set off, leaving Grandma and Lorelei sitting in the shade. There are many different booths along the way distributing information on the river, its importance, and the many different ways to conserve our resources. We skipped all of that. We went straight to the booth with live animals, where we were able to pet a Gila monster and view several different types of rattlesnakes. The kids even got to hold a fairly large gopher snake.
The Boys and Girls Club had a large area all to itself with an inflatable obstacle course, slide, rock painting(NOT washable paint), and paper necklaces.
Don't worry, Claudia is here to help
